It is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. The Sound of Music was originally intended to be filmed entirely in Salzburg, but because of logistical difficulties—and the concern that Julie Andrews might be recognized as she had recently played another governess on film—several locations were used for exterior shots. The Sound of Music – behind the scenes

The Sound of Music is a much-loved musical which was released in 1965.
